Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our defensive driving course.

What is this course?

This is an online Theft Awareness Diversion Program designed for individuals referred by a court or district attorney's office as part of a pretrial diversion program. The course covers the psychology of theft behavior, emotional triggers, anger management, relapse prevention, and strategies for moving forward. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate that can be submitted to your referring court or DA office.

How long does the course take?

The course is 6 hours of instructional content across 8 sections. You can work through it at your own pace — there is no requirement to complete it in a single session. Each section has a 45-minute minimum time requirement to ensure you have adequate time to review the material. Your progress is saved automatically so you can return and pick up where you left off.

Can I save my progress?

Yes. Your progress is saved automatically as you work through the course. You can log out at any time and resume from exactly where you stopped when you log back in. There is no need to start over.

How do I get my certificate?

Once you complete all 8 course sections, pass the section quizzes, complete all reflection exercises, and pass the final exam, your certificate of completion is generated automatically and available for download as a PDF from your dashboard. If your court or DA office is configured for automatic notification, they will also be notified electronically of your completion.

What devices can I use?

The course works on any modern device with a web browser — desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. We recommend using an up-to-date browser such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge for the best experience. No special software or plugins are required.

What if I fail a quiz or the final exam?

If you do not pass a section quiz or the final exam on your first attempt, you may retake it. You will have the opportunity to review the course material before trying again. A score of 70% or higher is required to pass each quiz and the final exam.

What are the reflection exercises?

Each section includes a written reflection exercise that asks you to apply what you have learned to your own experiences. You must complete the reflection before moving to the next section. Your responses are saved and are part of your course record. There is a minimum character requirement for each response to ensure thoughtful engagement with the material.

Will my court or DA office be notified when I finish?

If you were referred directly by a court or district attorney's office that uses our platform, they will be notified automatically when you complete the course and your certificate will be available in their dashboard. If you enrolled on your own, you are responsible for submitting your certificate to the appropriate office.
